Creating Custom Game Graphics

This page explains how to change some of the in game graphics such as menus, buttons, backgrounds, etc.

  1. If you haven't already, backup the GameBmp.dll in the bin folder of your PGA 2000 directory so you can go back to the original if you want.
  2. Download Resource Hacker. The download is towards the bottom of the page.
  3. Unzip and run Resource Hacker.
  4. Open the GameBmp.dll file in Resource Hacker. It is in the bin folder of your PGA 2000 directory.
  5. Go to View > Expand Tree.
  6. Click on one of the files to preview them. To scroll through all of the bitmaps fast hold down the down arrow key. They are previewed in the right window.
  7. When you find one you want to edit, right click on it and select Save [Bitmap : xxxxx : 1033]. You can save it under any name you want but I recommend saving it as the number of the folder it's in so you don't forget where it belongs.
  8. Make the changes you want to make on the file you saved in your paint program.
  9. When finished find it in Resource Hacker again.
  10. Right Click on it and select Replace Resource.
  11. Click on the Open File with New Bitmap button.
  12. Find the file you edited and click open.
  13. Click on the Replace button.
  14. Click on the Close button to close the window.
  15. Go to File > Save to save your changes.
