On this sheet you enter the rounds you play. To add a round, push Ctrl+Shift+R. If macros are off see the manual copy section. Add as many rounds to the sheet as you wish.
Each section is explained below. Editable fields are in bold.
Header
Date - Enter the date the round was played. Automatically
fills in today's date. Change if different.
No. - Round number, automatically calculated.
Tournament Score - If the round is from a
tournament
or other competition enter a T in the cell right of the round number, otherwise leave blank. Your
tournament
scores are displayed on the handicap sheet and in some
situations
treated different for your handicap calculation.
Course - Enter the course number. Use the number given to the course on the courses page.
Course Name - Automatically displayed once you enter a course number.
Holes - Automatically calculated based on number of scores entered.
Match - This displays the final result of a match play round.
Automatically
calculated from a round played on the same day in another spreadsheet. Requires the other spreadsheet open. Displays
traditional
match play scoring. For example in a 4 & 3 W, you won 4 up with 3 holes to play. A match going to the last hole simply displays how many up or down you finished at. In the case of ties it displays +/- Halve.
HCP - Your USGA
handicap
index
revision
at the time the round was played. Automatically calculated.
If you don't have a handicap index yet the USGA rules state to use the maximum handicap of 36.4. If you already have a handicap index you can overwrite this in cell W2. Note that the calculated handicap may not match the handicap you already have
until
the rounds it uses are in the spreadsheet (last 20 differentials and in some
situations tournament
scores up to a year ago).
Handicap Index Revision is updated on the 1st and 15th of the month.
Your current handicap index revision and trend handicap are displayed on the handicap sheet.
Two nine hole rounds are combined into 18 holes and
counted
as one round when figuring your handicap. An 18 hole round requires at least 13 holes played. A 9 hole round requires at least 7 holes from the same 9 played.
Course Handicap - This is displayed to the right of the handicap index. This is calculated based on your current handicap index revision and the course rating and slope for the course. The course handicap is the number used to subtract from your score to find your net score. It is also used to calculate ESC.
ESC - Equitable stroke control is the maximum number of strokes you're allowed to take on a hole when figuring your handicap. It is based on your course handicap for the round. Below this your adjusted round score is displayed.
HCP Differential - This gives you a rough idea of how the round affects your handicap if it is used. The lowest of these are averaged to find the handicap index. How many are used depends on how many rounds are entered.
Nine hole rounds are combined to form one 18 hole handicap differential.
Actual - The actual
differential
used for this round. For 9 hole rounds C indicates the round is combined with a future 9 hole round.
Projected - As you enter scores this shows your projected differential if you continue to shoot at a similar level. This only takes into account holes played in this round. As a result the projected differential may differ a lot from the actual differential when a previous 9 hole round is combined for the actual differential. When all 18 holes are entered in the same round the projected differential is just a non-rounded version of your actual differential.
Tee - The tee the course was played from. Automatically displayed once you enter a course number.
Rows
Hole - Hole numbers. If playing match play with handicaps, shading shows which holes the handicap comes into play. You need handicaps
and hole highlight on in the match sheet along with another spreadsheet open with a round entered on the same day for this shading to display. The shading represents the following:
Red - The
handicap
stroke(s) helped you to win the hole.
Blue - The handicap stroke(s) caused you to lose the hole.
Dark Gray/White Number - The
handicap
stroke(s) caused you and your opponent to halve the hole.
Light Gray/Black Number - The
handicap
stroke(s) did not make a difference.
White - No handicap strokes applied.
Par - This is automatically calculated based on the scores entered and the pars entered on the courses sheet. They are automatically colored:
Red - Under Par
Blue - Over Par
Gray - Even Par
Score - Enter your scores for each hole on this line. Totals are automatically calculated.
Putts - Enter your putts for each hole on this line. Totals are automatically calculated.
GIR Putts - The number of putts you make on holes you hit the green in regulation. This is automatically calculated.
Fairways Hit - Enter a 1 for a hit, 0 for a general miss, or L / R for the side missed. For par threes leave it blank.
Drive Length - Enter your drive length here. Use a laser rangefinder or GPS device that measures your drive length. The PGA Tour keeps drive length stats on one predetermined hole per 9.
Scrambling - This is automatically calculated. If you missed the green in regulation you
receive
either a 1 or 0 depending on whether you saved par or not.
GIR - The number of shots allowed to hit a green in regulation is par minus two strokes for putts. It is automatically calculated by subtracting the putts from your score and adding two. The difference between the result of this and par is displayed. If it is 0 or less it is a green in regulation. If it is more than 0 it is a green missed. In the special case that you putt the ball off the green, you need to overwrite the calculated value. Subtract one from the displayed GIR number for every stroke taken after you hit the green that was not a putt. Overwrite the displayed number with the result.
Match - This is a running display of the progress of your match. You need another spreadsheet open with a round entered on the same day for this to display. It is color coded to make it easy to see how the match went:
Blue - You are down in the match.
Red - You are up in the match.
Gray - The match is A/S.
White/Gray Text - The match is over, these holes did not affect the outcome.
Sand Saves - If you were in a greenside bunker and got up and down enter a 1. If you failed to get up and down enter a 0. If you were not in a greenside bunker leave it blank. This stat does not depend on whether you made par or not, only if you got the ball in the hole in two strokes or less from the bunker.
Penalty - Enter the number of penalty strokes assessed during the round. Enter 0 if none. Leave blank if unknown. Leaving blank does not count this round in your penalty stats.
Miscellaneous
Match Play - The match play section on the far right (below the HCP Differential) displays more information about a match. You need another spreadsheet open with a round entered on the same day for this to display.
Handicap - If playing with handicaps, this tells how many strokes you give or
receive. A dash indicates no strokes given or
received.
Start Hole - This the first hole of the match. The spreadsheet
automatically
picks the first hole with a score that follows a blank hole. If all 18 holes are played Hole 1 is selected as the start hole. If the start hole is different
overwrite
the calculation with the correct start hole.
Opp. Round - This is the round number used for the match from the opponent's spreadsheet. This is
automatically
found based on the date of the rounds. If more than one round is played by your opponent on the same day the match is on the first round of the day. If this is not correct overwrite this with the correct opponent round number.
White Space - The white space around the scores is used for calculating various stats about the round. It is in white so it doesn't clutter up the view of the round. If you change or clear one of these cells some of the stats for the rounds may not calculate correctly. Also entering anything in the empty column to the right of the scores may cause the handicap to calculate incorrectly.
The text and numbers to the right of the first round are where the stats over all rounds are calculated. This information is then used by the stats and compare sheets.
