Quite often things don't turn out right the first time. For that reason this tutorial was built to try to minimize the amount of work you need to do when things don't turn out. Below I have listed some of the most common problems and how to correct them. If you run into a problem not listed here, contact me and I'll try to help.
Problem:
There is a solid color or glow around the object from the color adjustment.
Cause:
You left to much background around the edge of the object.
Select the mask of the Edge Deleted layer.
Remove more from the Edge Deleted layer as described in Section 4.
Resave in PGA 2000 format as described in Section 6.
Problem:
Too much of the object is missing or parts of the object are not connected.
Cause:
When you took the background edge out, you lost too much of your object.
Delete the Edge Deleted layer.
Go back to Section 4 and repeat steps for deleting the edge, this time not deleting as much.
Resave in PGA 2000 format as described in Section 6.
Problem:
Some of the original background is still around the edge of the object.
Cause:
You didn't select enough of the edge for the color adjustment.
Delete the Color Mask Adjustment layer.
Go back to Section 5 and find and remove the pixels on the Color Deleted layer that were not changing.
Recreate the Color Mask Adjustment layer.
Resave in PGA 2000 format as described in Section 6.
Problem:
The entire object looks too light or dark compared to the rest of the objects on my course.
Cause:
Different lighting conditions were present when the photo was taken.
Use a new curves or levels adjustment layer on the entire image.
Problem:
The color of the object edge does not always look good.
Cause:
Color wasn't adjusted to look good on both the black and white backgrounds.
Adjust the color in the Color Mask Adjustment layer until it looks good on both backgrounds.
